The DLP rear projection lamp source has gone through the development stages of metal halide lamps, ultra-high pressure mercury lamps, xenon lamps, and LED light sources. The DLP rear projection of the LED light source also has a wider color gamut, higher color saturation, better color expression, and brings better picture quality, low power consumption, low heat and other advantages.

The so-called LCD splicing is a kind of LCD splicing screen that realizes the large-screen display effect through the splicing control software system. LCD splicing has the advantages of high definition, wide viewing angle, high brightness, thin thickness, light weight, low energy consumption, long life, no radiation, and lower maintenance cost. But as a spliced display unit, its disadvantage is that the seams are relatively large.

In 2009, South Korea's Samsung introduced an LCD splicing system represented by DID technology, which achieved a minimum double-sided splicing seam of 6.7mm. The development momentum of domestic LCD splicing system technology is also relatively rapid. In August 2011, TCL launched the 55-inch CEM55-SX LCD monitor with LED backlight and ultra-narrow frame design. The narrowest side of the splicing unit is 1.8mm and the bilateral seam is 5.5mm, reaching the international advanced level at the time. At present, Hikvision adopts direct-lit LED backlight DS-D2049NH-E LCD unit with only 1.8mm seams between the screens.

After LCD technology broke through the "splicing seam width" in 2009, which affected the development, it has grown rapidly, posing a strong challenge to the dominance of DLP at that time, and gradually becoming the mainstream product of large-screen splicing display.

The LED display adopts low-voltage scanning drive, which has the advantages of low power consumption, long service life, low cost, high brightness, large viewing angle, long viewing distance, waterproof, and multiple specifications, which can meet the needs of various application scenarios. . However, due to the large pixel pitch and insufficient display density of traditional large LED screens, this hinders the application of large LED screens at close range, especially in indoor environments.

The emergence of small{{0}}pitch LED screens brings new hope for its market development. Its advantages are color and brightness. The dot pitch of small-pitch LEDs has exceeded 0.8mm, which is equivalent to the dot pitch of large-size DLP splicing units; with small-pitch LEDs With the gradual maturity of display technology and the market, its application in the field of indoor large-screen splicing is becoming more and more common.

Especially with the rapid development of smart cities and the security industry, the demand for large indoor screens in various cities is increasing, and small-pitch LED products are also popular all the way. At present, small-pitch products have become the main display products in the indoor large-size (over 100 inches) commercial application market, replacing display products such as LCDs. Mini LED is defined as an LED device with a chip size between 50 and 200 μm. Mini-LED products below P2 are mostly used in the monitoring field.

The single LED large{{0}}screen display has also made gratifying progress. In the early stage of the development of full-color LED displays, mid-to-high-end products were completely customized according to customer needs. With the continuous breakthrough and development of LED display technology, especially the emergence of small-pitch LED products, LED display products gradually changed from customization to standardization. 40-inch 2K (P0.4), 54-inch 2K (P{{20}}.6), 67-inch 2K (P0.7), 81-inch 2K (P0.9) have become standard products. The 8K Micro LED display with a minimum pitch of P0.46mm is 162 inches in size; if the pixel pitch continues to be reduced, 8K resolution can be achieved in a smaller size display.

Display products with a pitch less than or equal to 1.0mm are called micro-pitch display products, and are currently implemented using Micro LEDs. Micro LED technology, that is, LED miniaturization and matrix technology, refers to a high-density, small-sized LED array integrated on a chip. For example, each pixel of the LED display screen can be addressed and individually driven to light up, reducing the pixel point distance from millimeters to micrometers.

Due to lattice matching, LED micro-devices must first be grown on a sapphire substrate by molecular beam epitaxy. To make a display, it is necessary to transfer the LED light-emitting micro-devices to a glass substrate. Since the size of the sapphire substrate for making LED micro-devices is basically the size of the silicon wafer, while the size of the glass substrate for making the display is much larger, it will inevitably require multiple transfers. The technical difficulty of multiple transportation of micro-devices is particularly high, and it is even more difficult to use in products pursuing high-precision displays. Micro LEDs are also facing the problems of full color, yield, and luminous wavelength consistency.

Micro LED can be used for large-screen displays for close viewing. Micro LED is gradually entering the professional field with higher resolution requirements, and is mainly used in scenes such as monitoring, dispatching, and command. The price drop has also caused a single large LED screen to enter the TV market. The price of LED displays of the same size is currently only slightly higher than that of high-end LCD displays. The price of a 65-inch 4KLED TV that my family bought in May of this year was lower than the price of a 65-inch 8KLCD TV.

OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode, Organic Light-Emitting Diode) is a display technology with excellent performance that drives the organic film itself to emit light by electric current, and can manufacture organic light-emitting displays. OLED is a self-luminous material and does not need a backlight. At the same time, it has a wide viewing angle, uniform picture quality, fast response speed, easy colorization, and light emission can be achieved with a simple driving circuit. Its manufacturing process is simple and can be made into a flexible panel , In line with the principle of lightness, thinness and shortness, the application range belongs to small and medium-sized panels.

Before Micro LED, OLED was regarded as the next-generation display technology after LCD, but OLED has never been able to replace LCD. This is mainly because OLED has been challenged in terms of power saving. Although OLED is known as energy-saving because of its self-luminescence, OLED must reduce the white screen and high-brightness display in order to achieve the power-saving effect; OLED also bears the burden of poor stability and high PPI, so its current publicity is also focused on light and thin, The characteristics of high contrast, flexibility, transparency, etc., cannot fully replace LCD in the short term.

In 2018, the public security command centers in major domestic cities were still dominated by DLP and LCD splicing screens, and the penetration rate of small-pitch LEDs was less than 10 percent .

According to AVC Revo's "Research Report on China's Large-screen Splicing Market in 2020": In 2020, the sales of the large-screen splicing market in Mainland China is 19.29 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.2 percent . In terms of sales area, it has exceeded one million square meters. According to AVC, the compound growth rate of the large-screen splicing market sales from 2020-2024 is expected to exceed 15 percent . According to the "Research Report on China's Large Screen Splicing Market in 2020" by Ovi Revo, the sales of LCD splicing will be 6.67 billion yuan in 2020, which is significantly smaller than the sales scale of 11.8 billion yuan of small-pitch LEDs. However, in terms of sales area, LCD Splicing sales reached 690,000 square meters, an area equivalent to twice the LED small pitch.

The top 3 LCD splicing sales in 2020 are Haikang, Dahua and Yushi, all of which are security head brands, accounting for 50 percent of the market, and an increase of 5.2 percent year-on-year. In terms of scale, the annual sales volume of Haikang and Dahua flat panel panels both reached more than 150,000 units, which is clearly at a high level. The annual sales volume of Univision is nearly 60,000 units, an increase of more than 40 percent .

The TOP3 LED small-pitch sales in 2020 are Leyard, Unilumin and Qiangli Jucai, which are traditional LED display companies, accounting for more than 50 percent of the total. Among them, commercial displays and public displays account for nearly 70 percent of the overall market share of small-pitch LED displays. With the popularization of small-pitch LED technology and the decline in the price of small-pitch LED displays, the small-pitch LED display market has attracted more and more manufacturers to join, especially for indoor security, meeting rooms and other economic needs. Application areas.

DLP splicing: In recent years, DLP splicing products have been the most severely squeezed by the small pitch of LEDs because they do not have the price advantage. In 2020, the sales of TOP3 brands accounted for more than 60 percent , and the share increased by 5.7 percentage points. Among them, Vtron continued to work hard in the DLP splicing market with its industry visualization solutions, ranking first, followed by Wisconsin, which has jumped to second place in 2020, and Delta's performance has declined significantly, ranking third. Haikang and Dahua have little internal contribution to the DLP business, but they also have a nearly 5 percent share in the DLP splicing market.
